Mountainfilm uses the power of film, art and ideas to inspire audiences to create a better world. It is one of America’s longest running film festivals and is one of Outside Magazine’s Best Film Festivals of 2023.

Using the power of film, art and ideas, Mountainfilm inspires audiences to create a better world. Held every Memorial Day weekend, the Mountainfilm festival brings together a community of filmmakers and change makers, showcasing documentary films that celebrate adventure, activism, social justice, environment and indomitable spirit.

Each year after the festival, Mountainfilm on Tour hits the road sharing the year's most inspiring short films with communities worldwide. Mountainfilm on Tour shows are hosted by various organizations, outdoor retailers, schools and universities, theaters, local governments and individuals. Mountainfilm has been on tour since 1999, extending the festival's reach and delivering inspiring content to audiences around the world. Mountainfilm showcases documentary films that celebrate adventure, activism, social justice, environment and indomitable spirit.
